Volunteers will help to recreate the burned-down church in Kondopoga from Moscow and St. Petersburg


Volunteers from the All-Russian project "Common Cause. Revival of wooden temples of the North" have arrived to the Karelian Kondopoga to the aid in reconstruction of the burned-down church of the Dormition of the Theotokos of the 18th century, the head of the organization father Alexey Yakovlev has told. Volunteers are engaged in accident prevention in wooden churches of the Russian North — repair of a roof, replacement of the decayed logs, etc. As soon as on August 10 it became known of the fire in Kondopoga, they have right there offered the help. At first it was necessary to make the action plan, and at last to support to the Karelian restorers there have arrived 10 volunteers from Moscow and St. Petersburg. They will be engaged in analysis of the burned-down logs and markirovkiya of the escaped structure elements which still will be useful at restoration of the temple. The movement "Common cause" was organized by the Moscow priest Alexey Yakovlev. In more than ten years of activity its participants have carried out works on preservation more than 130 northern temples.
